Director of Commucan, Former BBC Editor

I’m an experienced campaign strategist and media trainer with more than 22 years of experience in the field. I’m director of Commucan, a PR and social media consultancy which is part of the Brand Action Group.

I was MD and co-founder of the campaign consultancy Game Changer and worked closely with Alastair Campbell on improving the Labour Party’s capacity to campaign online.

Previously Head of Media at the UK’s No1 Public Sector PR consultancy Geronimo Communications, I devised and implemented campaigns for the Diploma, City Academies, London Challenge and ConstructionSkills.

Before public relations, I was a journalist for more than 15 years on national newspapers and television – a Senior Producer/Reporter at Reuters for GMTV, Deputy Editor at BBC Look North and Home Duty Editor on the BBC Network News Desk.

As co-founder and campaigns director for Go Fourth, I devised the Give Up The Bonus campaign against RBS bankers bonuses and launched Wage Concern to protect the National Minimum Wage.

I have also media trained and briefed clients for the Iraq Inquiry, the Today Progamme and Have I Got News For You.

In my spare time – and I rarely get any – I’m Chair of Governors of an improving secondary school in South East London, father to a beautiful little girl and once had his band’s song played on John Peel!
