Dominic Taylor

Writer of upcoming play Stop Search, actor, former prison officer and Ministry of Justice civil servant

Stop Search is Dominic's second play and his first to be produced. He is also the co-writer of Officers Who Care Too Much, a comedy drama set in prison.

Born in Hollywood, California, Dominic first trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and worked extensively in theatre, radio and television before becoming a prison officer, then senior officer in HMP Brixton. After four years in Brixton jail he began his writing career while working at Prison Service HQ in the Ministry of Justice.

While there he devised a communication technique for reducing stress and conflict among staff and prisoners, which is now being used in jails around England.

Dominic is currently playing Commander Harbison in Bart Sher's Tony award-winning South Pacific, and writing his next play, about drug prohibition.
