Dr Trudie Lang

Director, The Global Health Network

I have worked in clinical trials for over twenty years in the pharmaceutical industry, the World Health Organisation and in Academia. Ten years managing trials in industry gave me experience in regulations, managing complex projects, conducting effective strategic planning and was I able to learn how to design and operate a diverse range of clinical trials. At Oxford I have further developed my expertise in the methodology of running trials in resource limited settings.

I set up a clinical trial facility in Kenya with a strong focus on developing local research skills and engagement. More recently I devised and set up Global Health Trials. This is an online, research-led, facility to support and guide research teams in setting up high quality studies. This evolved into The Global Health Network, a virtual science park that hosts 23 international collaborations across varied diseases areas: all aiming to support research by sharing knowledge, research tools and methods. I would describe myself as a clinical trials research methodologist with specific expertise in capacity development and trial operations in low-resource settings.
