Gerhard B van Huyssteen is a professor in Human Language Technology at North-West University, is a C2 NRF-rated researcher and has published more than 60 local and international scholarly articles/papers/chapters in books. He served on the ministerial expert panel of the National Centre for HLT, and was the leader of several technology projects for South African languages. He also serves as chairperson of the “Afrikaanse Taalkommissie” (orthography commission), and as executive director of the Virtual Institute for Afrikaans.
