Hannah Buchanan

My name is Hannah Buchanan. I am a writer, particularly interested in LGBT issues. I am a trans woman, but also a proud feminist, and believe strongly in the rights of women, including trans women to live work and exist free of oppression. I further believe we need to look beyond the gender binary to include those who identify as neither male nor female, and are thus non binary. We need to extend and acknowledge their rights too. Furthermore we need to understand more about intersex issues, which are all too often rendered invisible from mainstream discourse.

As a person with cerebral palsy in a wheelchair, I believe passionately in the right of those with disabilities to be heard and understood. I also believe we need to do more to protect the rights of individuals with invisible disabilities like Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

I am interested also in social issues, like domestic violence, and forms of abuse.

Outside of journalism I enjoy many types of music from rock and pop to show tunes. Anything but death metal rocks my socks!
