2014 is set to mark Heather Peace’s arrival as an exciting new musical talent to a wider audience than ever before with the release of her second album, The Thin Line on June 9th.

An actress for 16 years, starring in TV shows like London’s Burning, Ultimate Force, The Chase and Lip Service, Heather recently left her role in BBC One drama Waterloo Road to make this album.

She said: “Music has been my first love since I began singing in church and taking piano lessons at five years old. I paid my way through drama school with a Jazz residency in local bars and I flirted with the charts a little bit in my 20’s but this is the first time I’ve felt confident enough to take a break from acting to give it my full attention. As soon as I was free from learning lines and a 12 hour day filming schedule, the songs flowed and I’m over the moon with how it sounds.”

Her debut album, Fairytales (Nigel Wright) entered the UK Independent Album Charts at number 7 in 2012 and its melancholy beauty coupled with her incredible live vocals on tour have steadily built up a loyal, passionate fanbase.

Over the last three years, Heather has performed three sell out UK tours with her full band as well as four sell-out solo acoustic tours. She’s headlined Manchester Pride, performed with her idol Alison Moyet and played shows with KT Tunstall, Rebecca Ferguson, Deacon Blue and Brian May. Internationally, she’s twice sold out tours across Australia as well as headlining the world famous Sydney Mardi Gras Fair Day.

The anticipation for the release of The Thin Line is so great that a reveal of the date and artwork trended for three hours on Twitter. And it’s unlikely that the fans will be disappointed with this soulful, organic pop gem that incorporates Heather’s love of 60’s girl groups, Motown and 80’s pop. It rightly puts her rich, soaring vocals at the fore against a backdrop of lush pop strings, melodic piano riffs and fat basslines.

Produced by James Lewis (Arctic Monkeys, Superfood), the album was mostly recorded live then overlaid with brass sections, strings (by Cliff Masterson – Emeli Sande, Leona Lewis) and drenched in massive backing vocal harmonies from Heather.

Says Heather, “I love Dusty Springfield and 60’s girl groups and from the beginning James and I knew we wanted an album that was recorded in homage to Spector’s Wall Of Sound. We wanted big songs with passion and grit and lots of harmonies. I spent almost a day picking the perfect vocal mic and then it took me almost two weeks to arrange and then record the backing vocals that really bring the record alive.”
