Labour's Shadow Health Minister

Born 1973 in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

Educated at Whitehaven School before attending university in Manchester (BA English) and Leicester (MA Mass Communications).

Employment – worked as a public affairs professional for 10 years before entering parliament.

2005 Jamie Reed entered Parliament and served on two select committees, Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Regulatory Reform Committee.
November 2006 he was appointed PPS to the Rt Hon Tony McNulty MP, Minister of State Policing, Security and Community Safety.
October 2008 Jamie was appointed PPS to the Rt Hon Harriet Harman QC, MP Leader of the House of Commons and Minister for Women. He has also been the Chair of the APPG Digital Switchover since its inception. Jamie has also been appointed Deputy Regional Minister for the North West.
October 2009 became a member of the Child Poverty Bill Committee
January 2010 became a member of the Flood and Water Management Bill Committee.
May 2010 re-elected.
October 2010 appointed to the Shadow Front Bench as a Shadow Environment Minister.

To relax Jamie likes to spend time with his family. He enjoys reading American Literature and Modern History. He also enjoys listening to music, watching football, fell walking and is a great supporter of Whitehaven RLFC.
