Joe started out as a performer/songwriter, playing in London and across Europe mostly as a solo artist, but also accompanying other artists, bands and ensembles, playing both live and in the studio. He has been composing for the theatre for almost a decade now, working mainly from his studio in West London, and in 2007 he formed his own theatre company (Ruby In The Dust) with his partner, writer and director Linnie Reedman. They have over twelve productions under their belt, including shows both on the fringe and the West End and other site-specific venues. Past credits include the critically praised The Great Gatsby Musical, Hutch (both at Riverside Studios), Miracle starring Susannah York and Tim Woodward, (St Andrew Church Crypt and Leicester Square Theatre) and Dorian Gray (Leicester Square Theatre). Following the success of The Great Gatsby they have been invited to present their new musical version of Bonnie and Clyde the King’s Head this summer. Other composing credits for Ruby In The Dust” The Little Dressmaker (Union Theatre and Tabard Theatre), Poprygunya (Greenwich Playhouse), Romeo and Juliet (Greenwich Playhouse), Rapunzel’s Last Midnight (White Bear Theatre), Dorian Gray (Café Royal), Romeo and Juliet (Leicester Square Theatre), Bel Ami (White Bear Theatre) Song of the Seagull (The Menier Gallery), The Great Gatsby Musical (King’s Head Theatre).

Joe has also worked as a sound designer for theatre and in addition has provided the soundscape for exhibitions at the Battersea Arts Centre, the Menier Gallery and Kew Gardens; for which he created the sound installations for two major events.

Other design and composing credits include: Dreamcatcher (Camden's People Theatre), Overdue (Orange Tree Theatre), The Happy Prince (National tour), Wilde Spirits (National tour), Playing For Reward (Edinburgh), Reservoir Dogs (Edinburgh, Wimbledon Theatre, International tour), The Prince of Spandau (International tour), The Usual Suspects (Edinburgh, Riverside Studios, International Tour), The Remarkable Rocket (Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and National tour), Ashes (Edinburgh), Dinner (King’s Head Theatre), Ex Humare (King’s Head Theatre) and The Revenger’s Tragedy (Bridewell Theatre).

Joe has written two full length plays: ‘Rapunzel’s Last Midnight’, a musical play, which premiered at the White Bear in the spring of 2008, and Hutch, which had its premiere at the Riverside Studios in 2013: A play with music about the legendary jazz pianist Leslie Hutchinson, featuring the compositions of Cole Porter.
