Fitness writer and trainer, author of The Fat Burn Revolution
I'm a fitness writer and trainer based in London and Dorset. When I’m not writing about exercise I devote most of my time to coaching my online clients to achieve fantastic fitness and fat loss results. You can see pictures of some of them here.
I don’t want to bore you with my life story, but since you’re on this page I guess you’re interested in a bit of my backstory…
My background is in journalism and media. I took kind of an old-school route into the industry, beginning at the tender age of 20 with a general assistant job at my local BBC station back in my home city of Stoke-on-Trent.
In early 2000 I moved to big, bright London town and had a lot of fun working on various start up websites during the bonkers period of the “internet bubble”.
After a year or so of that mayhem I wangled myself a desk at “the big BBC” in London and worked my way up to producer level across various roles, mainly in online, but I also did a bit of TV and radio.
Sometime around 2003 I decided working for The Man wasn’t for me and struck out as a self-employed freelancer. (Wow, was that really over 10 years ago?) Since then I’ve mainly worked in print and online, writing and editing content, with a bit of PR and media consultation thrown in.
My articles have been published in many top magazines, newspapers and websites including Cosmopolitan, Runner’s World, Closer, Health and Fitness, Bodyfit, Sport, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Independent, and lots more.
I’ve also been involved in promotional campaigns with some very well-known brands including Nike, Great Runs, Nuffield Health, Samsung, Vibram FiveFingers and Kettler.
I got into exercise in my late teens after being practically sports-phobic at school. Since then my fervour for fitness has grown steadily and a few years ago I got the the point where I could no longer resist the compulsion to fully dedicate my career to it.
Today, I love being a trainer and advocate for fitness and I’m immensely passionate about helping as many people as I possibly can to discover the fantastic difference regular exercise can make to their lives.
One way I do this is via social media, I’m especially active on Twitter. There’s also my fitness blog, my book, The Fat Burn Revolution and online training programme.
