Kath Sansom is a journalist with Archant Newspaper group who runs Sling The Mesh campaign. Set up in 2015 with 20 women it now has more than 7,200 members from across the world. Kath is formal mesh advisor to Parliament on the All Party Parliamentary Group, which is led by Owen Smith MP, which helped secure a mesh suspension in UK hospitals until April 2019. She campaigns for a ban on pelvic mesh and also a Sunshine Payment Act, which was passed in America in 2013. This legally requires all doctors and teaching hospitals to declare funding they receive from industry. Kath says: "When industry influences medicine, patient safety suffers."
