Liam Benjamin Preston

Public affairs professional for YMCA England and Head of the Be Real Campaign for body confidence

Liam works for YMCA England where he is responsible for the YMCA's parliamentary and public affairs. Within this role he is a spokesperson and advocate for the Be Real Campaign for body confidence, as well as an organiser for the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Body Image and Youth Affairs.

Liam has a wealth of experience in representing and lobbying on issues for young people and was Chair of the British Youth Council from 2010 to 2012.

His advocacy work stretches across Europe and recently stepped down as an expert advisor on youth policy to the Council of Europe; sitting on its Joint Council on Youth.

Liam's passion for supporting young people began when he was elected as President for two years at Canterbury Christ Church University and continued through his time on the National Executive Committee of the National Union of Students.

He has an undergraduate degree in Film, Radio and Television and a Masters in International Security and the Politics of Terror. While at university he also established and managed a community radio station - CSR 97.4 FM.

Liam combines his passionate for young people with an interest in politics and contested the General Election in May 2015 as a candidate for the Labour Party.
