Women's Prevent Officer at the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association

I work for a charity based in London which provides support to migrant and refugee communities to better integrate into society, our projects include spoke English lessons, supplementary school for children and women's development workshops. I run a specific project at the charity in educating women on the threats of radicalism among vulnerable charities. I engage with them on their biggest concerns such as hate-crime, women's rights, while also discussing the specific issues of radicalisation affecting women such as understanding social media and the internet and the dangers it can possess for their children.
I believe that through dialogue we can give Muslim women the empowerment they deserve and make such issues like radicalisation a non-taboo topic which people will not fear in discussing. Integration and the cohesion of communities is key to preventing the feelings of exclusion which make individuals more vulnerable to such extremism.
