Lizzie McQuade

London-based milliner and Triumph's Women in Making 2014 competition winner

Lizzie McQuade is a London-based, Scottish milliner who creates hats and head-pieces for the discerning, romantic woman.

McQuade fluently fuses straw, felt or sinamay with textural embroidery, hand-crafted trimmings and unexpected materials such as PVC and latex. Her trademarks are intriguing embellishments and inspired dip-dyed brims and peaks.

Utilising her skills in traditional millinery, embroidery, latex and leather-work,
beading and hand-dying techniques, McQuade creates modern pieces that are sculptural and quirky, feminine and, of course, desirable.

In addition to creating bespoke hats for her private clients, Lizzie frequently works on commissioned pieces for catwalk shows and fashion magazines.

Clients include Vogue, Vogue Italia, Dazed & Confused, Whistles, Partimi and Elliot Atkinson.
