Children's apps, EdTech, STEM, UX and digital specialist and mother of 2.

Lucy, owner of Digills Research and Consulting, is passionate about making technology truly valuable for children and their families. She is a researcher and consultant specialising in children's apps, educational technology (EdTech) - particularly STEM related, digital toys, screen time and user experience. She supports companies in developing products, involving children in the development process through play testing wherever possible. She also talks regularly to parents via a range of seminars on subjects such as Choosing Apps for Your Children, How to Manage Screen time, Why Encourage an Interest in STEM and How to Make Technology a Positive Influence on Your Family, and also volunteers as a STEM Ambassador providing STEM career talks to children, STEM workshops, running a code club/maker club and a number of First LEGO League JR teams. Prior to Digills, she created the Good App Guide (part of Fundamentally Children) to provide parents with free advice in choosing apps for their children reviewing hundreds of children's apps in the process. Lucy has worked with apps, tablets and mobiles since they first hit the market, user testing literally hundreds of products for children and families. She is a particular champion of products that help children learn and develop through play. Lucy has a Masters in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and started her working life at Philips developing innovative, first-of-a-kind products. She is therefore particularly passionate about getting girls interested in STEM subjects. As a mother of 2, Lucy also likes to comment on a range of parenting issues.
