Artist based in London, who works on collaborative projects in the public realm

Lucy Harrison is an artist based in London, who works on collaborative projects in the public realm. Her work reflects on how we feel about and describe places, and how what is recorded as history compares to individual experience and memory. Her work is often portable – books, newspapers, audio recordings and online films – allowing it to be experienced in different locations and contexts. Her work can be seen on the website http://www.lucy-harrison.co.uk

Her most recent project Carnaby Echoes investigates the musical history of the Carnaby estate in central London, discovering layers of stories which go beyond the familiar Swinging Sixties narrative of the area. Selected buildings have been marked with plaques, indicating that they can be explored through stories and interviews presented in a mobile phone app and series of films. The project website is www.carnabyechoes.com.
