Currently Professor and Director of Research at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, she has published widely on Spanish-language culture. She contributes regularly to Sight & Sound and guest reviews for a range of BBC Radio programmes and is a Programme Advisor on Spanish and Latin-American Cinema for the BFI London Film Festival.
