Labour and Cooperative Member of Parliament for Preston since 2000
Mark Hendrick has been the Labour and Cooperative Member of Parliament for Preston since 2000 and currently serves on the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of the House of Commons. He has previously sat on the International Development Select Committee (2009 – 2010) and the European Scrutiny Select Committee (2001 – 2004). During Labour’s period in office, Mr Hendrick served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Margaret Beckett as Foreign Secretary (2006 – 2007) and Environment Secretary (2003 – 2006), and Jack Straw as Justice Secretary (2007 – 2008). In addition, Mark also sat on Labour’s front bench as a Whip with special responsibility for International Development and Foreign Affairs (2010 – 2012). He served as Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary China Group (2010 –2012) and is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Football Group. Before entering Parliament, he served as a councillor on Salford City Council (1987 – 1995) before becoming Member of the European Parliament for Central Lancashire (1994 – 1999).
