Charity Trustee/School Governor/Policy Maker/Lib Dem
Mathew Hulbert is a Borough Councillor for Barwell on Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and a Parish Councillor for St Mary's Ward on Barwell Parish Council. He represents the Liberal Democrats on both of these authorities.
Before entering politics Mathew worked as a Broadcast Journalist with a group of commercial radio stations in the Midlands; anchoring news programmes,reporting on stories 'from the field,' and interviewing leading public figures, including then Prime Minister Gordon Brown, then Leader of the Opposition David Cameron, film critic Barry Norman and the former Head of UK Athletics David Moorcroft.
Mathew still loves radio and continues to present a weekly programme on a local community radio station ('Mathew on Monday,' 12-2pm, listen via: http://www.hilltop-radio.com) Mathew has appeared on BBC1's religious, ethical and moral debate programme 'The Big Questions,' has been interviewed live on BBC Radio 5 Live's Drive programme, and has been quoted in The Independent, Daily Mail, and Metro newspapers, among others. He's written columns for a number of local newspapers, including The Leicester Mercury.
He works as a Centre Co-Ordinator at The George Ward Centre in Barwell (find out more about the Centre via: http://www.georgewardcentre.org.uk) and is involved in a number of local community groups and organisations.
