Michael Bernd Bayer

Michael Bayer is president of Global Growth Markets at Avaya, the global business communications company.

An expert in communications technology, Michael has spent his career in leadership roles at some of the world’s largest and most successful communications companies, including Motorola, T Mobile, Cisco and Philips Communications.

At Avaya, Michael works with businesses of all sizes to help them adopt cutting-edge communications and collaboration technologies. From voice, SMS and email, to IM, video and social media, Michael’s role is to ensure businesses have the technologies in place that allow employees to access to the right information, through the most appropriate channels, securely, via multiple devices.

Most recently, as Avaya is the official supplier of network equipment to the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, Michael and his team have been working closely with the organising committee, technology providers and partners to ensure the infrastructure and communications tools are in place for the Games opening next year. In this capacity, Michael’s team is providing all core technology, the main data centre, all switching solutions, wireless networking, contact centre solutions, and voice and video transmission to ensure that officials, athletes, spectators and the media are able to enjoy the most connected Games in history.

Michael holds a Masters Degree in electronics and telecommunications from Fachhochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt.
