Michael Saunders

Joining in 1982, the year the company was founded, Michael has spent the last thirty years building Bibendum into the UK’s most successful independent wine business. Michael was responsible for founding Bibendum’s On-Trade department in 1986 and its Fine Wine broking desk two years later. Both divisions continue to thrive today. Under his tenure, Bibendum’s turnover has increased organically and it now supplies to every channel in the UK from contract catering to multiple grocers, Michelin-starred restaurants to travel retail. More recently, Bibendum created the Wondering Wine Company, a mobile wine bar company for events including Royal Ascot.

Michael was named Drinks Business Man of the Year in 2009 and picked up the Special Achievement award at the 2012 Harpers Awards. He is amember of the Wine and Spirit Trade Association’s Executive Board.
