British TV presenter, wine expert, columnist for Live Magazine (Mail on Sunday) foodie and regular on BBC1's Saturday Kitchen

Olly Smith is a uniquely enthusiastic TV presenter, wine expert, columnist and author.



He is the Wine Editor of the Mail on Sunday with a weekly wine column in Live Magazine. Olly appears regularly on BBC1's Saturday Kitchen and is presenter of The Secret Supper Club and Iron Chef UK for Channel 4. He has a string of TV credits including guest appearances on The Hairy Bikers: Hairy Dieters and Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Sarah Millican's Television Programme to name a few. His wine bar The Glass House on board P&O Cruises luxury cruise ship Azura has won Best Bar at Sea at the Cruise Critic Awards 2011 and 2012. He has selected the wine list for Marco Pierre White’s restaurant Ocean Grill aboard P&O’s latest ship Adonia and blends the Porta Palo range of wines across the entire fleet of P&O ships. He appears regularly on Azura hosting wine tasting events.



Olly is the Celebrity Drinks Ambassador for The Ideal Home Show, and hosts a multitude of live events including the BBC Good Food Show, Tapas Fantasticas and is one third of Three Wine Men, bringing wine tasting to the masses.



His first book Eat & Drink: Good Food That’s Great to Drink With was published by Headline in 2010. Illustrated by his own fair hand, it is a treasure trove of recipes, wine tips and tales of adventure from his travels across the high seas of flavour. His second book Wine: Both Barrels was published in November 2012 and is a collection of wine tips in which Olly expertly guides both amateurs and experts alike in the fun of wine, giving them the knowledge to conquer the wine aisle and get the very best out of their wine cellar.



His Wine App has been voted in the Sunday Times ‘Top 500 Apps’ 2011 and 2012 and the Telegraph’s ‘500 Must-Have Apps’ 2012. Designed to be used by anyone who likes wine, his app aims to give everyone the knowledge and confidence to try something new. It features a Wine Guide, Wines of the Week, food matching tips, videos and much more.



Olly has launched his very own wine glass made by world class manufacturers Zalto. A unique design, The Glass is dishwasher friendly and designed to be used for red and white wine. It is a thing of beauty – both practical and elegant for everyday use at home. To complement this, he has also brought out a decanter, The Bottle. Olly has won several awards including:



- Communicator of the Year for the United Kingdom Vineyards Association 2012

- Journalist of the Year Award for the Portuguese Wine Awards 2012

- Finalist for the International Columnist of the Year at the Roederer Awards 2012

- International Wine and Spirits Communicator of the Year 2009

- The Drinks Business Young Achiever of the Year 2009

- Wine Idol 2005



He is Senior Judge at the International Wine Challenge and The Decanter World Wine Awards.

Before romping into the world of fine food and wine, Olly was a scriptwriter for TV and film, including shows such as Pingu and Charlie & Lola, and even spent a joyful day gag-writing for Wallace & Gromit’s Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

However, Olly’s favourite writing assignment was The Fly Who Loved Me which united him with his hero and chum Sir Roger Moore. Check out His Rogesty’s work for UNICEF – Roger rules!

Work aside, Olly is a massive fan of Ghostbusters and can name all four of them, adores cricket, rugby, tennis and loves strolling in the countryside with his dog, Barney.
