Paul Colditz

Paul Heinrich Theodore Colditz was born on 21 October 1953 in Estcourt, KwaZulu Natal. He completed his schooling here, first at Drakensview Primary School whereafter he matriculated at Estcourt High School. He obtained a BA (Law) and LLB degree from the University of the Free State, and a certificate in Constitutional Litigation from the University of South Africa. He was an attorney in private practice for 30 years, and specialised in Constitutional and Education Law. He was instrumental in the development of a new legal framework for school education following South Africa’s transition to a democratic constitutional state in 1994. Since then, he has been involved in litigation about every conceivable aspect of school education in South Africa. In 2008, the Minister of Education appointed him as a member of a ministerial committee to advise the Minister on the establishment of a national education evaluation and development unit. He has been involved with the activities of FEDSAS since 1995 and became FEDSAS’ national chairperson in 1998. In 2007 he was appointed as the full time Executive officer (CEO), a position he still holds today. This appointment had a great impact on the organization seeing that FEDSAS has grown significantly since that day and continues to grow. Paul regularly addresses national and international education seminars and conferences.
