Professor Richard Tiffin

Richard Tiffin is professor of applied economics and director of the Centre for Food Security at the University of Reading. The centre draws together research designed to tackle one of the world’s most pressing questions – how to feed an expected world population of 9 billion people by 2050, sustainably and healthily. It draws together the University of Reading’s research expertise in agricultural production, climate change, biodiversity, and human health. Richard’s own research is currently focussed on diet and health policy. In recent work he has examined the impacts of alternative food policies on land use in the UK and the impacts of a ‘fat tax’ on health in the UK.
