Rabiah Hussain

Writer, poet, playwright

Rabiah is a playwright, poet, performer and storyteller living in London.

She graduated with a degree in Politics and English Literature and a Masters in Global & Comparative Politics. She went onto work in central government, the charity sector and contracting. She currently works as a freelancer.

Rabiah has performed her poetry at various venues, including the Lost Theatre, Space Arts Centre, the Rich Mix and Brixton BookJam. As a storyteller, she has been part of the Battersea Arts Centre’s London Stories Festival 2016. She was a participant on B3 Media’s Talent Lab 2016 for emerging writers and filmmakers. Rabiah is part of the Tamasha Theatre’s Playwright collective 2016-2017. She was longlisted for the Old Vic 12 programme for playwrights. Her short play, ‘Fish Kill’, was produced by Three Pegs Theatre in 2014. She has had rehearsed readings at Tamasha Theatre and Blackshaw Theatre. She was co-writer and actor in Deckchair Collective Theatre’s, ‘Steam Punk’, at Open Ealing in 2012. Rabiah has taken part in writer programmes at Arcola Theatre, Royal Court and Kali Theatre. She organised and hosted Six Hundred Seconds of Words, an open mic and music event hosted at Stratford Circus in 2012. Her poem ‘Child of the Colony’, was published in The Asian Writer’s collection of contemporary Asian writing called ‘Happy Birthday To Me’.
