René Metcalfe

René Metcalfe is a Celebrity Make-Up Artist, she has a list of clients including Jerry Hall, Suzanne Shaw and Ashley Roberts. René is also the Make-up Designer for Dancing on Ice.

As a young girl in New Zealand, René was enthralled with the glamour of hair and makeup, regularly devouring the beauty advice in magazines and repeatedly practising the looks on her very patient mum and younger sister.

Her formal training began with a 4 year hairdressing apprenticeship developing her knowledge and skills through competitions and working on hair design teams. Upon graduating she moved to London where she was presented with the opportunity to assist on teams for the renowned Haute Couture Makeup Artists Val Garland, Sam Bryant and Petros. Under their guidance René learnt the art of makeup.

With her reliability, sense of humour and talent she built her own clientele, heading her own teams for catwalk, the BBC and ITV shows, including Dancing on Ice, Fame Academy and Superstar. René was awarded the ‘Royal Television Society Best Makeup Design’ for Dancing On Ice.

She has travelled to the Maldives with Miss World, worked backstage with A-list actors at the BAFTAS and designed the catwalk look for Donatella Versace for Fashion Rocks. She has also worked with some great stars, including Jerry Hall, Claudia Schiffer, Ashley Roberts, Fearne Cotton, Suzanne Shaw, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Harvey Keitel, Jeremy Irons, Alex Wek and Dustin Hoffman. Her ability to bring forth the natural beauty of each person she works with means René is highly sought after for editorial front covers, celebrities, and couture make-up!
