Writer/broadcaster
A Cambridge University graduate with a degree in Natural Sciences, Rick joined the T4 presenting family in 2007 and served a full sentence of 4 years (no time off for good behaviour) before leaving to focus on his other television and writing projects.
2011 sees Rick back for a second series of the popular E4 entertainment show Tool Academy as well as crossing over in to mainstream sports coverage. He continues to front That Paralympic Show in the run up to the 2012 Games and is part of the C4 presenting team covering the World International Athletics out in Daegu, South Korea, this Summer. Alongside his more traditional hosting roles, Rick is making a tentative return to being funny (having done stand-up at university and on the London circuit) - devising and starring in Rick & Peter, a sitcom pilot for C4’s Comedy Lab.
Rick began his career in front of the cameras hosting E4’s music content. This led to Channel 4 offering him their flagship youth music show Freshly Squeezed.
As well as a year spent hosting a weekend radio show on XFM, Rick has also presented BAFTA coverage for BBCi. and writes a regular monthly column on men’s fashion for
The Observer Magazine. He is a regular on the Observer Ethical Awards judging panel. Rick is also an in-demand host for live events, having worked for brands including P&G, Umbro, The Guardian, Schwarzkopf, Nando’s. Music Week.
Rick’s first passion remains mathematics, and he likes nothing better than relaxing with some mental
number-crunching and a book about pi. He retains an interest in all things environmental and scientific and continued to tutor GCSE and A-Level students in the three sciences and maths until quite recently. Other than that he likes ten-pin bowling (high game: 253) and snooker (highest break: 32).
His credit list includes a diverse range of programming from game shows to movie specials and music series to sports programming some of which are listed here: Tool Academy, That Paralympics Show, The Crush, UK Athletics coverage, Rick & Peter, T4, Relentless, T4 On The Beach and T4 Stars of …, The Track & Field Show, V Festival, Wireless, Freshly Squeezed, E4 Music, XFM.
