Robert Upstone is a Director of The Fine Art Society in London. He is a specialist in Modern British art and has written and broadcast extensively in this area. Formerly he was a senior Tate curator.

Robert has curated several major museum exhibitions, including the survey of William Orpen held at the Imperial War Museum and National Gallery of Ireland in 2005, ‘Modern Painters: The Camden Town Group’ at Tate Britain in 2008, ‘Sickert in Venice’ at Dulwich Picture Gallery and ‘John William Waterhouse’ at the Royal Academy, both in 2009 and ‘The Vorticists: Manifesto for a Modern World’ at Tate Britain in 2011.

He is currently working on exhibitions about Barbara Hepworth, Laura Knight and writing a book about British art and the First World War.
