Shenilla Mohamed is Executive Director for Amnesty International South Africa. She previously worked as South Africa Director for Oxfam GB, Deputy Director of the BBC Trust African Media Initiative, Principal Advisor for the Hivos-International Media-Dfid Program on Governance and Media in Zimbabwe and Africa Director for OutRight Action International in New York. She is a journalist, editor and human rights activist and defender and her career spans over three decades. She spent seven years working in the Gulf Region as Bureau Chief for the Gulf News and was Europe Middle East Editor for Inter Press Services so she has a strong understanding of the region and the issues.
