Professor of Politics, Glasgow Caledonian University
Simone is Professor of Politics at Glasgow Caledonian University, he holds a Ph.D in Political Science from the University of Geneva, a Laurea (MA degree) in Political Science, University of Florence, and a Pier Certificate, Sciences-Po Paris. He is currently the principal investigator and coordinator of the EU Horizon 2020 project "Sirius" (www.sirius-project.eu) investigating labour market integration issues of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in European countries. He is also a principal investigator for GCU in the Marie Sklodowska Curie Rise project Fab-Move (For a better tomorrow: social enterprises on the move). His earlier studies include the EU funded project "TransSol" (www.transsol.eu) investigating paths of transnational solidarity at the time of crisis, and the EU FP7 project "Efeseiis" (www.fp7-efeseiis.eu) focusing on social enterprises and social innovation across various European countries. Simone works on issues of: unemployment; migration and refugees; social innovation; social exclusion and poverty, in particular the effect of unemployment and precariousness on individual wellbeing and health; the gig economy.
