Susanna Cappellaro Cohen

Susanna started working for the Italian magazine Flair ( Italian equivilant to Vogue ) in 2001, first as a fashion assistant and then she was curating her own pages of accessories. After a couple of years she began writing about music (interviews) for Rodeo Magazine and moved on style VJ’s and celebrities for MTV and freelance. After Rodeo she also started writing for XL-La Repubblica and has interviewed people from PJ Harvey to Ben Harper and The Hives. Those years were mainly spent as stylist rock chick, at gigs and partying.

It was only after she moved to London in 2007 and started to take acting lessons with the aim of learning English in a fun way she then realised she really enjoyed acting and attended additional classes and workshops. In 2008 Susanna and 20 others funded a theatre company called Perennial.

Whilst studying and playing around with the theatre company Susanna put together a showreel and enrolled herself in Spotlight. It was there that last year Shaheen Baig the casting director called her in for an audition for Berberian Sound Studio directed by Peter Strickland (winner of Silver Bear in berlin) and with Toby Jones. On the last day of that job she got a phone call from Susie Figgies, Tim Burton's casting director asking me if I was interested in a little role in his movie and was hired to play Naomi Collins in Dark Shadows. Whilst filming Dark Shadows she also plays a part in an Italian movie, Notte Finisce Con Gallo, playing opposite Filippo Timi.

Susanna is now getting ready to play the lead role of Gabrielle in Avenue to Nowhere a , 25 minutes short shot in 16 mm black and white. She will be filming in London next week and Paris in May.
In the meantime she continues working for Vogue recently interviewing director Kevin Macdonald.
