An MP since 2001, I served as a transport minister under both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Wrote an award-winning blog, "And another thing..." which was later turned into a book, "Why I'm Right and Everyone Else Is Wrong". Stood as a candidate in the election for Scottish Labour leader in 2011 and came close to winning a double-digit share of the vote. Married to Carolyn with three sons. Back on the front bench after a four-year absence and chuffed to bits about it.
