Shadow Defence Secretary and Labour MP for Gedling
Vernon Coaker is the Shadow Defence Secretary. He previously served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. He was a Minister of State in the last Labour government, holdings roles as Police Minister and Schools Minister. He has been the MP for Gedling since 1997 and was a school teacher in Nottingham for over 20 years before entering Parliament. He is originally from London and is a Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
