It's a pretty cool planet we live on. But it's just that - a planet. One planet. As far as I know we haven't got another one stored away anywhere! So we all need to do our bit to look after it. It's not always easy being green but there's loads of things we can all do to do our bit. To show my support for the planet this Saturday I'll be heading down to London's Southbank Centre to take part in WWF's annual event Earth Hour. It's a really simple thing you can do too.
Basically people from all over the world join together to switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about our brilliant planet. People do all sorts from candlelit dinners, stargazing and torch lit walks to celebrate. Loads of people then go 'beyond the hour' and do little things to live a more sustainable lifestyle and take action for the planet. Last year we saw the awesome power of people with the world's first Earth Hour forest created in Uganda and more than 100,000 people supported a petition on forest legislation in Russia.
It's also pretty cool watching iconic landmarks like Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament turn off their lights. Last year I performed at London's Southbank with McFly in panda onesies but this year we've handed over the mic to Sophie Ellis-Bextor who will perform her acoustic set by candlelight. So come on world get involved and take part in Earth Hour! Check out WWF's Earth Hour Live on Saturday 29 March at 8.25pm here. Or you can chill out in the dark when the lights go out with my special Earth Hour playlist - songs with a lights and starry theme!
Light songs
1. McFly - Shine A Light. I really hate the band but the bass player has such dreamy eyes.
2. Finch - What It Is To Burn. Super old school post hard core from when I was a kid shaaaaayyy baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarnz!
3. Death Cab For Cutie- I Will Follow You Into The Dark. Just a really rad tear jerker.
4. Coldplay - Fix You. You probably guessed this was coming.
5. Blink 182- Asthenia. It's about being in outer space and seeing the world from a different perspective and wondering if you should come back or not... I think.
Starry songs
1. Mcfly- Star Girl - Who doesn't love a song about falling in love with an alien?
2. Ellie Goulding- Starry Eyed - Sick voice. Babe.
3. Babylonzoo- Space Man - This is the first sing I ever bought!
4. Areosmith- I Don't Want To Miss A Thing - Song from one of the sexiest movies of all time... Armageddon.
5. Blink 182- Aliens Exist - My most favourite band in the world, without this band I would not be playing music today!
