The Labour Party has mocked the Government for giving its schools U-turn the "airing it deserves" despite its "best efforts" after it was belatedly announced in the House of Commons.
On Friday, Education Secretary Nicky Morgan was accused of "burying bad news" after its climbdown on forcing all schools to become academies by 2022 was announced on election day.

The Secretary of State today confirmed to MPs the Government would not legislate to make the plan happen, and 'good' schools could make the transfer in their own time.
In response, Labour's Shadow Education Secretary quipped: "It's good to see that despite her best efforts the U-turn is getting the airing it deserves."
