The teenager who abducted, raped and murdered six-year-old Alesha MacPhail has lodged an appeal against his sentence.
Aaron Campbell, 16, is facing at least 27 years behind bars after being found guilty of murdering the schoolgirl on the Isle of Bute on July 2 last year.

During the trial, he was described as a “cold, callous, calculating, remorseless and dangerous individual” by judge Lord Matthews, who added that Campbell had committed some of the “wickedest, most evil crimes this court has ever heard”.
The teenager denied killing Alesha up until before he was sentenced, but eventually he confessed.
The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service confirmed Campbell has lodged the notice of appeal.
