Amazon Fashion Launches 'Try Before You Buy' Service That Let's You Pay Later

Online shopping is the best for many reasons – you don’t have to traipse around shops for hours, pay for the car park or ask to see if there’s another size out the back – but even the most brilliant website can’t make up for the lack of changing rooms. Which is why we’ve all found ourselves staring down an enormous delivery of clothes at some point, all of which end up looking utterly ludicrous, need sending back, and leave you out of pocket as you wait weeks for a full refund.

Amazon thinks it might have an answer in the shape of Prime Wardrobe, which will allow shoppers to try items for free at home, and pay only for those that they decide to keep.

Available as part of Amazon Prime – another attempt by Amazon to get you signed up for its premium service – members can order three to eight fashion items for free delivery. You then have seven days to decide whether you want to keep the items; unwanted goods can be returned free-of-charge using a resealable bag and prepaid label.

Brands included in the offer include Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Miss Selfridge, New Look and Vans.

It isn’t just Amazon that offers such services. Klarna, which has been operating for the past 12 years, is a payment service allowing you to pay after you’ve ordered clothes. Retailers that use Klarna include ASOS, Schuh and Topshop.

Susan Saideman, Vice President of Amazon Fashion Europe, said: “Whether you want to try out some new wardrobe staples, the latest seasonal trends, or need new clothes for the family with the option to try multiple sizes, colours, and styles – Prime Wardrobe makes shopping at Amazon easier than ever.”
