‘Loose Women’ star Andrea McLean has opened up about the heartache she and her partner have faced after surgery ended her chances of ever conceiving again.
The 47-year-old had a hysterectomy last month, ending her hopes of having a child with her partner, Nick Feeney.
Speaking for the first time since her op, Andrea revealed she made the tough decision following a year of ill health.
The presenter says she would often be doubled up in pain before hosting the ITV daytime show due to her battles with endometriosis and the perimenopause.
“I’m really, really happy in a relationship with a lovely man so it was obviously a big decision,” she tells The Mirror.
But Andrea revealed that the finality of her decision hit them both a few days ago.
She says: “I looked over at Nick and asked: ‘If we had a child what do you think it would look like?’
Andrea is still recovering from her operation, and her return to ‘Loose Women’ has been put back a fortnight to allow her time to get better.
“I was meant to go back to Loose Women after a month but after a few weeks I was nowhere near ready,” she admitted.
One person who isn’t returning to the show is Jamelia, who has reportedly been axed after her controversial opinions came under fire from some viewers.
According to reports, the singer has lost her seat on the panel, as ITV bosses are keen to “distance themselves from her views”, most notably when she faced a huge backlash for her comments about plus-size clothing.
