Ant McPartlin Cuts Five Months Off Driving Ban By Completing Course

The Britain's Got Talent host was found guilty of driving twice over the legal alcohol limit last year.

Ant McPartlin is now legally able to drive again, after having five months cut from his ban.

Last year, the presenter made headlines when he was arrested after crashing his car while more than twice over the legal alcohol limit, and subsequently took time out from his work commitments in order to focus on his recovery.

After a court hearing, Ant was fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months, though he’s now been pictured in The Sun at the wheel of his car once again, after completing a driving course and shaving five months off his ban.

Speaking after his sentencing in April 2018, Ant said: “I am very sorry I did this. I am ashamed and mortified that this happened.

“I accept full culpability for this and wish to apologise to all those concerned.”

The judge described Ant’s previous “exemplary character” noting: “I think it will have quite an impact on you to know you’re no longer a man of good character.”

In the months that followed, Ant sidestepped his regular TV presenting gigs, most notably missing the live shows of Britain’s Got Talent and last year’s series of I’m A Celebrity, the latter of which saw Holly Willoughby co-hosting with Declan Donnelly.

Ant returned to our screens earlier this year, co-presenting the most recent series of BGT, and will be back on I’m A Celebrity in the autumn.

Saturday Night Takeaway, which was put on rest following Ant’s arrest, is also thought to begin a new series on ITV in 2020.
