Apple's Event Will Reveal New iPhones, Apple Watch And A New MacBook Air

While every year sees the arrival of a new iPhone, Apple’s September 12th Event is expected to be something special with the arrival of three new iPhones, a new Apple Watch, iPad Pro and finally a new version of the MacBook Air.

None of it is of course confirmed but thanks to a number of leaks we now have a pretty solid idea of what to expect when Apple pulls back the curtains on the evening of Wednesday 12th September.

Here’s everything that Apple will unveil tomorrow:

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone Xr

That’s right, not one but three brand-new iPhones are expected at tomorrow’s event. The iPhone XS will be a new and improved version of the iPhone X sporting the same 5.8-inch OLED screen but with improved cameras and a much faster processor.

The iPhone XS Max sees Apple ditch the ‘Plus’ name and will be a much larger version of the iPhone XS with a huge 6.5-inch OLED display. That’s even bigger than the already massive Samsung Galaxy Note9.

Prices for the iPhone XS are expected to be around the same as the current iPhone X while the iPhone XS Max could have a starting price of well over £1,000.

Finally there’s the iPhone XR which will become Apple’s new ‘affordable’ iPhone. It’ll look just like the iPhone X but will have a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD display, single camera (sorry no Portrait Mode) and will be made using aluminium instead of stainless steel.

Analysts speaking to Bloomberg believe the XC could cost anything from £749-849 which would raise the price of Apple’s cheapest smartphone.

The iPhone XS and XS Max were both leaked earlier this month courtesy of 9to5Mac while images of what appears to be the back of the XC were shown on Twitter by Ben Geskin.

Apple Watch Series 4

In addition to three new iPhones it’s believed that Apple will unveil the Apple Watch Series 4. This will be arguably the biggest update for the Apple Watch since it first launched in 2014.

Leaked alongside the new iPhones this image of the new Apple Watch shows a device that has the same width but will come with a much larger edge-to-edge display.

It will be thinner and there are some reports that it will come with increased sensor tracking for fitness activities.

Absolutely no word on pricing but expect it to be at the very least in line with Apple’s current starting price of £329.

New MacBook Air

The MacBook Air is practically ancient in tech years, and yet it still remains the reluctant laptop of choice for many simply because it’s the only ‘affordable’ MacBook available.

Now after months of rumours it looks as though Apple will finally unveil a new low-cost replacement for the Air. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes that it will come with a 13-inch Retina Display and could ditch the Air name to simply become part of the standard MacBook family.

Anything else?

There have been reports that Apple’s now-mythical AirPower wireless charger that can charge your iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods simultaneously will finally be given a release date.

Finally Apple will probably update both its iPad Pro models with a new edge-to-edge display that will see both tablets ditch the Touch ID fingerprint sensor for the iPhone X’s Face ID facial recognition system. Apple could unveil these products alongside the iPhone but it usually prefers to keep the iPad separate with its own launch event.
