At this point, we’ve had a couple of days to get to know the new batch of ‘Apprentice’ contestants in all their serious-face-photo and cringey-introductory-bio glory, but one of them might already stick out if you’re a big TV fan.
We’re talking specifically about Sarah Byrne, who runs a children’s acting academy and told producers: “I don’t have a posh accent or pretend to be anyone else. My personality sells me.”
Prior to opening the kids’ acting school she’s now the owner of, Sarah previously tried her hand in the entertainment industry, starring as Meena Karib in ‘Shameless’ - a character she portrayed for two series until leaving the show in 2010.
Meena was the daughter of Yvonne and Kash - the latter of whom famously faked his own death in one storyline - who was involved in several plotlines, including arranging a marriage with a medical student in Pakistan and later pursuing a modelling career.
More recently, she landed a small part in ‘Hollyoaks’, playing Bella in one episode of the Channel 4 soap last year.
However, she’s clearly now set her sights on something even bigger, and is one of 16 new candidates vying for a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar in this year’s series of ‘The Apprentice’.
When the new contestants’ photos were unveiled earlier this week, it didn’t take long for fans to spot one rather glaring photoshop fail in the shots, in which newcomer Kayode Damali was seen folding his arms… all three of them, that is.
But that wasn’t the only thing giving ‘Apprentice’ fans a chuckle, with ridiculous parody bios of the new contestants also doing the rounds on social media.
‘The Apprentice’ returns on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesday 3 October.
