Ariana Grande has accused Grammy Awards boss Ken Ehrlich of lying about the reasons behind her cancelled performance.

The singer was in talks to perform at Sunday nightā€™s ceremony, but it was revealed earlier this week that she had pulled out, with Ken later going on record to speak about the matter.

He had claimed Ariana ā€œfelt it was too late for her to pull something togetherā€ ā€“ however, she has now contested his version of events.

The star has said her ā€œcreativity and self expression was stifledā€ by the producers, despite her offering up three songs to perform.

Posting a screengrab of Kenā€™s comments on Twitter, she wrote: ā€œmhmmm here it is ! ā€˜too late for her to pull something togetherā€¦ā€¦ā€™

ā€œiā€™ve kept my mouth shut but now youā€™re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.ā€

She continued: ā€œi offered 3 different songs. itā€™s about collaboration. itā€™s about feeling supported. itā€™s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. itā€™s just a game yā€™all.. and iā€™m sorry but thatā€™s not what music is to me. (sic)ā€

Ariana is nominated for two awards at the Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Performance on single God Is a Woman and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.

Performers at the ceremony include Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Diana Ross.

While Ariana will not be among them, she has said she is still ā€œgratefulā€ for her nominations.

She tweeted: ā€œpassed a Grammyā€™s bus with my face on it typing those.

ā€œhope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year. (sic)ā€

It was originally reported Ariana had decided to pull out of performing after bosses refused to let her sing current single 7 Rings.

The row comes as Ariana released her fifth studio album Thank U, Next on Friday ā€“ just six months after her last release, Sweetener.

HuffPost UK has contacted a representative for Ken Ehrlich for comment, and is awaiting a response.
