Henrik Olsson Lilja, the lawyer who initially represented US rapper A$AP Rocky in his recent assault case in Sweden, has been shot while leaving his home in Stockholm.
As was first reported by the Swedish newspaper Expressen, Lilja was approached by the gunman while leaving his apartment building on Friday morning, and was shot in the head and chest.
He was later taken to hospital in an ambulance, with Swedish police trying to track down a black SUV that fled the scene.
The Swedish Police Authority wrote on their website: “The police have arrested several people for questioning. The investigation is at an intense stage and the police are working on several different fronts to make progress.”
A press spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Expressen that a high-ranking female lawyer was among those who has been arrested.
TMZ also reported that Lilja called the police himself, but there is currently no update on his condition.
The lawyer began representing musician A$AP Rocky shortly after he was first taken into custody in Sweden in July, following an altercation that took place in Stockholm on 30 June.
Video footage of the brawl appeared to show Rocky – real name Rakim Mayers – hurling a man to the ground. The 30-year-old claimed he had acted in self-defence.
Lilja was eventually replaced as A$AP Rocky’s layer before his trial began.
He and two members of his entourage were eventually found guilty, but were given suspended sentences after spending more than a month in custody.
The rapper was also required to pay damages to the victim, as well as being ordered to repay the state for its legal expenses.
Rocky later wrote in an Instagram update that he had been “disappointed” by the verdict, but thanked his fans for their support and his management and legal team for advocating for justice.
A$AP Rocky’s case made headlines all over the world, with US president Donald Trump also personally weighing in during the musician’s incarceration, in an attempt to secure his freedom.
