Austerity Bites: As millions of children return to school, many parents are struggling to cover expensive uniforms, stationery, sports equipment, school lunches and other costs incurred during term time. Uniform banks across the country can provide cheaper alternatives, however many parents find themselves falling into further debt to cover costs. Changes in the benefit cap also mean that some vulnerable families can no longer rely on free school meals.
