The Backstreet Boys Performing I Want It That Way While All In Isolation Is Weirdly Emotional

No, you're crying.

From jigsaws to gardening, there’s lots of things we’ve found ourselves doing during lockdown that we wouldn’t usually – and it seems we can now add crying at the Backstreet Boys to that list.

The boys recorded a surreal coronavirus-era rendition version of their hit I Want It That Way for Elton John’s Living Room Concert, which was televised in the US in March, and we have to admit we found it strangely emotional.

The five lads – AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell – are all social distancing in their respective homes in America at the moment, but through the magic of technology, filmed a version of their most famous song.

It certainly puts our HouseParty quizzes to shame, that’s for sure.

Brian kicked things off from his home in Atlanta, before throwing to Nick in Las Vegas, Kevin and AJ at their homes in Los Angeles, and Howie in Orlando, with special appearances from Kevin and Nick’s kids.

Sir Elton enlisted some of the biggest names in music to perform live from their homes as part of the televised concert, which was to raise money for the coronavirus relief effort.

The hour-long, advert-free living room gig also saw performances from Billie Eilish, Alicia Keys, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Sam Smith, Demi Lovato and Mariah Carey.

Sir Elton opened the show with a tribute to health workers around the world and said money raised from the show was going to the charities Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation.

Despite hosting the evening, Sir Elton initially said he was unable to perform himself, explaining he is quarantined “in the only house I’ve ever been in without a piano”.

However, he later sourced a keyboard and sang the chorus from Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.

Thank you for everything, @eltonofficial ❤️ We love you!#iHeartConcertOnFOX pic.twitter.com/0PwD1h5v8I
