Banana pudding, a layered dessert attributed to the south, has been reinvented in this pudding recipe. The more traditional versions of banana pudding closely resemble a trifle -- with layers of vanilla custard, fresh banana slices and vanilla wafers. But this banana pudding recipe is a whole different dessert.
This pudding recipe calls upon banana liqueur to add a hint of banana to the vanilla pudding. The wafers that used to be layered in it are now transformed into a cinnamon crumble and sprinkled on top. If you're worried that there won't be enough banana flavor to satisfy you, fear not. Fresh banana slices are served with this pudding too.
