A BBC presenter gave birth after reading the news on live TV - with a fellow newsreader as her birthing partner.
Victoria Fritz, who reads the business news on BBC Breakfast, went into labour shortly after discussing
easyJet’s latest figures on on Tuesday 15 November.
Fritz’ husband, Dan, was stuck in traffic on the M6, so co-presenter Sally Nugent, 45, was her birthing partner.
Fritz gave birth to a baby boy, who is yet to be named, at St Mary’s Hospital.
The new mum tweeted that the delivery was a BBC Breakfast team effort.
She wrote: “My heartfelt thanks to Sally Nugent and St Mary’s doctors and midwives who helped me deliver my little boy yesterday.
“A @BBCBreakfast team effort.”
Nugent replied: “It’s going to make a brilliant story for his 21st birthday! What an incredible day”
Before sharing the news on her own timeline.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday 16 November, newsreader Naga Munchetty explained why another presenter, Sean Farrington, was reading the business news.
She joked that Fritz had “decided to be even more productive that she is in the workplace”.
Munchetty said: “There she was, you know, just presenting very happily, not an issue in the world.
“And then she decided to have a bit of an event later on.”
Co-presenter Dan Walker added: “Sally [Nugent] was reading our sport yesterday.
“Because Victoria’s partner was stuck on the M6, Sally was the birthing partner.”
The presenters joked that the new arrival could be named easyJet or Sean.
