You read a lot about 'can't live without products' in the beauty world, but honestly, there's nothing I couldn't do without. I might scare small children (and myself when going to the loo in the middle of the night) but my world wouldn't grind to a halt if I didn't have my make-up bag.
What I don't like living without however, is a different kettle of fish. I lost my Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum a few weeks back. I didn't realise how much I loved it when I had it, but since it's been gone (more than likely rolling around on the floor of a number 55 London bus somewhere) I have to admit, I miss it.

Lash primers are a funny thing. I know it's only white gloop, but they make a big difference to thin lashes and are mascara's best friend. They do seem a bit superfluous and I don't know many other women who bother with them, thus they are a bit uncommon these days. I wandered around Boots looking for a cheaper version than my Dior one (£23.00) but could only find one - L'Oréal Double Extension Carbon Black Mascara, which is only one half primer, one half mascara. Clinique's Lash Building Primer is more reasonable at £11.00, but I do wish more brands would get on board.
As for the all important black gloop to go on top of the white goop, I must admit that I am an inverse mascara snob. I refuse to pay more than a tenner for it. For under £10 my favourite for soft-looking lashes is Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Care (about £8.00). For separating and lengthening I like Bourjois Fan-Tastic Volume Mascara Black (£9.99). I often do a coat of both and defy anyone to tell me that a £30 version does a better job. And what's more, you won't cry if you loose it on the bus.
