Lisa-Marie Presley is “beyond devastated” following the death of her son, Benjamin Keough, at the age of 27.
A representative for Lisa-Marie confirmed the news of Benjamin’s death to the Associated Press on Sunday night.
“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,” they said in a statement.
“She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
Benjamin’s father was musician Danny Keough, his mother’s first husband. The couple also had a daughter, Riley, while Lisa-Marie later gave birth to twin girls in 2009, Harper and Finley, whose father is guitarist Michael Lockwood.
In 2012, Benjamin and his siblings appeared in the music video for their mum’s rendition of I Love You Because, made famous by their late grandfather Elivs Presley in the 1950s.
In one of Lisa-Marie’s most recent social media posts, she shared a photo of herself with her four children, alongside the message “Mama lion with her cubs”.
Months earlier, she shared another family photo as they celebrated her birthday, writing: “Birthday sleigh ride with my babies.”
She and her late son were said to have been close, even getting matching tattoos on Mother’s Day in 2009, in honour of their “eternal love and connection”.
Nancy Sinatra paid tribute to Benjamin shortly after the news of his death was reported, tweeting: “I have known you since before your mama gave birth to you, never dreaming you would have pain like this in your life. I’m so very sorry.”
Addressing Lisa-Marie, she wrote: “I’m here.”
