'Big Brother' Fans Left Unimpressed As Reason For Lewis F's Removal Goes Unexplained

"Just another 'F you' to the viewers by Channel 5."

‘Big Brother’ fans have been left unimpressed over the show’s decision not to air the moment that led to contestant Lewis Flanagan being ejected from the house.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that Lewis had become the second of this year’s housemates to leave via the back door, with Big Brother telling him in the Diary Room this was due to his unacceptable language.

However, while many fans thought his comments would be aired in Sunday night’s highlights show, so they could find exactly what was so unacceptable, the moment was glossed over, with producers instead choosing to show Lewis receiving the news he was being removed, and the aftermath in the house.

Although he didn’t clarify exactly what was said, Lewis put the moment down to a “slip of the tongue”, telling bosses: “I’m not ashamed because I didn’t try to offend anyone - it was a slip of the tongue.

“Unfortunately for me my bad language and misuse of certain phrases and certain words has exploded in my face.”

Fans of the show were left disappointed with the producers’ decision, and vented their annoyance on Twitter…

Annoyed that we don’t know the reason Lewis left the B.B. house. What could be so bad, we’ve heard it all over the years! #bbuk

The constant speculation as to what Lewis may or may not have said is not good for Lewis or Big Brother/ Channel 5.
They should've shown us the footage. #BBUK

@channel5_tv are an absolute disgrace for not showing what was said, I'm not a fan of Lewis but u Cud of had the decency to show it #BBUK #gobshites #theydontcare

I didn’t like Lewis and I’m not sad to see him out but it’s a total disservice to the ten of us still watching that #BBUK still haven’t shown why he was kicked out yet give us ten minutes of reaction.

Ridiculous that #BBUK haven't provided an explanation of the incident that led to Lewis being removed. None of the others seem relieved he is gone.

.@bbuk kicking Lewis out of the House a week before the final and not showing the public why is ridiculous. It's reality TV and the public should be able to make their own minds up- by not showing it speculation runs rife #BBUK

It’s absolutely ridiculous that we didn’t get to see what Lewis said. Just yet another “F you” to the viewers by channel 5 #BBUK

I was waiting for today's episode to find out why Lewis was removed but #bbuk hasn't shown us. That's a disgrace, how we'll know if what he said was really bad @bbuk? Total fix. that's why this is the last series, what a joke

#bbuk Why remove Ellis at the beginning of Big Brother because of her tweets but not show why #lewis was removed? This is why Big Brother is finishing, it's not the same any more!! Gosh the things they have shown in the past!!!

— Nikki (@nik_jane) October 29, 2018

This is exactly right. Viewers have paid money to keep Lewis in the house. To remove Lewis with no explanation is ridiculous. The final nail in Big Brother’s coffin. Well done Channel 5. #BBUK

They're prepared to allow the goings on in #CBB and awful effects it had on Ryan, yet not prepared to air what #Lewis said in #BBuk bad form. Thank goodness BB won't be shown on Channel 5 again.

— Wendy (@1Dilums_58) October 28, 2018

It’s typical of Channel 5 to not air what Lewis actually done to get removed. Still trying to ruin #BBUK as much as possible

Various media outlets have claimed that during a conversation with fellow housemate Cameron Cole, Lewis mistakenly said “Auschwitz” when he’d meant to say “outfits”, though this remains unconfirmed.

Channel 5 declined to comment when approached by HuffPost UK.

During the summer, ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ fans had a similar grievance, when an incident that led to “Human Ken doll” Rodrigo Alves’ removal from the house also went unaired.

Fans were particularly annoyed due to the fact that earlier in the run, he’d received a formal warning for his use of racial slurs, which were shown in the first highlights episode of the series.

‘Big Brother’, now in its final series, airs nightly on Channel 5.
