Boris Johnson is currently in charge of the country - sort of.

Prime Minister Theresa May and Chancellor Philip Hammond are both on holiday this week.

And Downing Street confirmed today this means the foreign secretary is the most senior minister currently in the country.

However the prime minister’s spokesperson stressed that May, despite being away, “is very much in charge and is constantly kept abreast of what is going on”.
